The Art of Victory

Every morning, the soldiers of a Swiss military base in the Wichlen valley see a Russian warrior standing on guard. He has a kind face, holds an unusual weapon and wears the elegant uniform of an eighteenth‑century grenadier. On his mitre cap is the inscription: ‘God is with us. Pavel I’.

The sculpture is of a soldier of the army of Alexander Suvorov, who led the famous March across the Alps which ended with the triumphant defeat of the French Army.
